Basket-weave stamping
Draw a faint guideline, as shown in Fig 1, down the centre of the piece you are intending to emboss using your basket-weave stamp. Ensure the line is barely visible as it is not intended to be part of the finished project. In Fig 2 you can see the border lines have been scribed, incised and bevelled.

Use a 30-60-90 triangle, Fig 3, to very lightly draw a guideline making a mark that leaves space to stamp one impression to the left of it. Start stamping by putting the stamp as illustrated in Fig 4 with its bottom edge on the 30° guideline and the right side of its bottom leg touching the centre guideline where it is met by the 30° guideline, Fig 5.

The second stamp impression, shown in Fig 6, is made immediately to the right of the first with the left leg of it on top of the bottom right leg of the first. You must continue to align the bottom right leg with the centre guideline otherwise you will not keep the basket-weave straight.

Carry on stamping to the right, Fig 7, in exactly the same manner as you've begun. On finishing this row you should see that it is exactly centred between the borders.

In Fig 8, as this is your initial attempt at basket-weave stamping, you can see that two guidelines have been drawn for your next rows of stamping to follow. With practice this will not be necessary as you will have acquired the ability to keep the stamping running true.

As you can see, in Fig 9, you are now working from right to left. Ensure you position the stamp, while keeping to the correct angle, exactly between the two lower impressions. Continue along to the left to where you began the first line. Figure 10 displays the two completed lines. Then, as shown in Fig 11, reverse the project prior to making the final line.

Now, as you begin your last line, Fig 12, once again moving from right to left, you must angle the stamp away from the border line as you do not want to corrupt it, although it is possible to remove any accidental marks with the appropriate tool, and definitely do not stamp too deeply.
The Advanced Basket stamping illustrated in the video clip above
is only a sample of the variations you can achieve with practice and experience.
